Oak Canvas Series by Torres Brandy by Mireia Ruiz<\/b> is the new collaborative effort in which an urban artist turned an oak barrel for the ageing of brandy into a work of art. An artistic project linked to one of Torres Brandy’s most premium products: Jaime I.<\/span><\/p>\n

The relationship between this brandy and art has a history. The Jaime I bottle (designed by Hiroya Tanaka) evokes one of the most representative works of Modernism, an artistic movement that transcended borders, led by artists like Antoni Gaud\u00ed, the creator of La Sagrada Familia Cathedral in Barcelona. If you walk through the city and look up, on one of the buildings on the Paseo de Gracia you can see what inspired the bottle’s design. Can you guess what it was?<\/span><\/p>\n

In this new Oak Canvas Series edition, Mireia Ruiz, a plastic artist from Barcelona, bases her work on experimentation with colour<\/b>. Through geometry and symbolism<\/b>, she creates a universe based on human progress and the passage of time, two themes that the artist transmits in many of her creations. Not settling just for canvases, Ruiz sets out to infuse the designs of objects and clothing collections with art.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When undertaking this collaboration with Torres Brandy, Ruiz was inspired by one of the themes that stirs her as an artist: the passage of time.<\/b> This theme becomes a link between her work and Jaime I, as this brandy, can boast of exceptional ageing in oak barrels for years, through the traditional solera<\/i> method, endowing it with a unique character.<\/span><\/p>\n

Because making a brandy like this takes time and perseverance. Thus, Mireia wanted to capture it in her work with symbols such as an hourglass; a lock, which alludes to keeping and ageing the brandy, for years; and a ladder, as a symbol of effort, these being symbolic elements charged with magnetism that become even more prominent thanks to an intense colour range combined with geometric shapes, balanced out by the organic ones of the Jaime I bottle.<\/span><\/p>\n

This collaborative project with Mireia Ruiz goes far beyond just turning a barrel for the ageing of brandy into a work of art. At Torres Brandy we believe that art is also something to be enjoyed, and should reach as many people as possible. Thus, in collaboration with the artist, a limited collector’s edition of the Jaime I brandy has been created, <\/b>featuring <\/b>\u00a0a case based on the painting of the barrel.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
